Non V8 help, please
Does anybody have a pdf copy of the manual for the Rover 6pot as fitted to the P5, please?
I have been asked to make one go again after a long lay-up in bits and as I am totally unfamiliar with that engine, I need help.

The landrover 6 cylinder and the Rover p5 6 cylinder engine are from the same family but are different engines. For starters the LR engine is only 2.6 litres and the P5 is a 3 litre.
Basically the LR engine is a dog and is often replaced by the P5 engine.
The differences are too many for the LR workshop manual to be reliable for the P5 3 litre engine.

It seems I have strayed into Rocking Horse poo territory with this engine...
I have found an old catalogue at my Landy Indie and they list all the part numbers and dimensions for the engine, but not a dicky bird about torques and type-specific need-to-knows.
It turns out the engine is still largely intact, with only the crank and sump removed so far, which is either good or bad news. The good would be a bottom end rumble and new shells, job done.... the bad is an aborted start to a complete tear-down and still to be discovered horrors down the road.
I still need to FIND the crank and sump, too......

A copy of the pertinent pages of the Haynes will do, thanks!
All I need is dimensions, torques and any odd tricks particular to that engine.
I am with you on the crank being worn along with shells, but until I can present actual figures for it to be mic'd up I am marking time.
The next clever trick is going to be finding the parts it will need.....

The panic is over...
I had a breakdown on my Disco yesterday and a guy I know lent me a stack of used serpentine belts and the tools to fit them just to get me home so I could diagnose the fault properly, and when I went to give him his tools and belts back this morning, I asked him if he perhaps had any info on the 3liter 6 pot as fitted to the P5 and he walked into his garage and came out with a complete original manual for me.
Refused to take any money for it either, so I am well chuffed now.
Just need to get the Td5 going again.......but that's another non-V8 issue altogether....

It is a total win!
Got the engine home yesterday onto my borrowed cheapy engine stand, which promptly groaned an leant over to rest the front of the engine on the floor....
So, toady is out with the welder and modification time first. Also off to the owner's storage to find the big-end caps, crank and sump so I can try to work out why the engine only has the crank out, so far.
