I have recently stripped down my sd1 3.5 v8 9.35 cr engine, this is my first engine build so I'm a novice.
My question is can I put 9.75 pistons in the block without having to get the heads skimmed, I had these left over from a vittesse block I stripped last year, or buy new ones.
Thanks
Andy

Yup - if they are good. But do check the bores and pistons are standard - although it's unlikely either have been re-bored.rover827 wrote:I have recently stripped down my sd1 3.5 v8 9.35 cr engine, this is my first engine build so I'm a novice.

Discard the rings and examine the lands/grooves for wear and damage - and make sure they are clean. Hone the bores and fit new rings. If you still have the Vitesse heads and they are good, use them. They have slightly better flow.
