Heater connections rover 3.5 v8

Hi all.
Wonder if someone can help. I’m finally putting my rover 3.5 back together and as I’ll be travelling up to the far north I’m installing a Webasto engine block heater that I want to plumb into the heater line. Challenge is I can’t work out which pipe on the water pump is the outlet and which is the inlet. As per the photo, both are next to each other.
Any thoughts?

Both inlets. One is the thermostat bypass, the other is the heater return.

The heater outlet is at the back of the inlet manifold.
