Ed!
If using a MGB front end you can ditch the old lever arm setup and fit a coil over conversion. A few places do these now. Check out the MG owners club website for advice.
Also! You can do a brake upgrade using princess 4 pot calipers. But you might as well just upgrade to MGB V8 front brakes. They are plenty good enough for a road car with some grunt as long as your servo is working ok :)
A good handling upgrade for the MGB front end is a 7/8th" anti roll bar.
This was a really good mod for my car !!

Ed,

Don't forget that your car is 200kg lighter than a standard B so the brakes should be adequate if in good working condition.

If you want a simple up grade you can use crossdrilled BV8 discs and a pair of SD1 4 pot calipers which will bolt straight on to the B uprights, but you need a set of sleeves as the holes in the calipers are bigger than the MGB calipers, alternatively TR7? or TR8 bolts work.

I got my sleeves from Dave Vale at V8 conversions 01689 858716
