front suspension
Hi Can anyone suggest a front suspension upgrade to independent other than the john hoyle set, up my car has mgb standard suspension with mgb v8 crosmembe with standard brakes, would like to uprate them to vented discs with 4 pot calipers Ed
Ed!
If using a MGB front end you can ditch the old lever arm setup and fit a coil over conversion. A few places do these now. Check out the MG owners club website for advice.
Also! You can do a brake upgrade using princess 4 pot calipers. But you might as well just upgrade to MGB V8 front brakes. They are plenty good enough for a road car with some grunt as long as your servo is working ok
A good handling upgrade for the MGB front end is a 7/8th" anti roll bar.
This was a really good mod for my car !!

Ed,
Don't forget that your car is 200kg lighter than a standard B so the brakes should be adequate if in good working condition.
If you want a simple up grade you can use crossdrilled BV8 discs and a pair of SD1 4 pot calipers which will bolt straight on to the B uprights, but you need a set of sleeves as the holes in the calipers are bigger than the MGB calipers, alternatively TR7? or TR8 bolts work.
I got my sleeves from Dave Vale at V8 conversions 01689 858716
