Is that the satin cloth you were talking about ?
or the normal glass weave stuff ?
When ( or if lol ) weather warms up, I really need to have a go at making a new wing. It'd defo be too cold in the garage at the minute though
For colouring the gel coat....
would it be silly think about using an aerosol to spray into the mix to add some paint colour ? lol
Or just stick with correct methods of adding colour ?
ie to get almost close with no paint afterwards ! lol ( metallic paint on car )

That's the satin weave cloth
I prefer working with the weather a bit cooler as it gives me plenty of time to worth with the materials.
Colour for gel coat I would stick with the right materials as the potential for disaster with experimenting with the possible reactions with the different chemicals is too great.

Always stick with the right methods for pigmenting as you wont go far wrong.
To help with cutting down on paint prep time use a light aircraft grey pigment as this is so close to primer grey from a rattle can and then all you need to do is a very light coat of primer and then top coats.
Andy
Advice will not be a problem but please dont phone me at the moment as i have been hit by a freight train of a virus and have lost my voice (not a bad thing i hear Mrs G cry ) and am not up to much just now.
Been crazy busy with work and think that this is part of the problem.
Not so much a bit run down more like completely run over
cheers

@gelmonkey
This is what I mean by oddly shaped. Spolier set on flat surface and I'd guess the entire base should be flat ?
It just looks wrong from the arrow to the centre of the car as if someone sat on it. Both halves are like that. Maybe it's supposed to, but it just looks wrong to me
So, I've removed the reverse lip on the underside and I'm going to extend the leading edge downwards to the bottom is level over the entire width.
And also filled the lower of the air holes.
Then on the rear side I'm filling in a large flat base ( it was just a small return edge with this floating out front ) and creating a side flange so the two halves can bolt together easier.
I started on the base then decided I wanted to fix the leading edge hence base is partially done then cut away again
So I will now need to tuck the glass neatly into all those corners and contours where the new side flange is made.
Even on the flat base where it met the old return edge I got bubbles and the glass not sticking correctly to the shape. It isnt a big deal though as it isnt really a critical or finished piece.

Its looked to me with both sides being the same that the twist in the leading edge was part of the design - quite common to have that sort of profile and quite a few spoilers have a lift in the centre.
That looks to have a definite change in profile in the centre
And another - and have to say I quite like the profile

I guess it's always worth checking...that if you're trying to straighten something...to ensure the piece of wood you'er using is also flat LOL...
It's now got a little downturn in the middle pmsl, although not as bad as it was the other way. I only ust removed the tape etc to see how good/bad the shape was and gave it a quick sand. Needs some fillers etc but I think it's usable ok.
Needs another layer or so and then can trim it and try and fit it to one side of the car.
Rear
Side
Front...noting bent wood and the spolier now turns down a little lol
Will get some fillers during the week and fill the bits the gel coat didnt run into nicely. It was just the release tape as a mould so wasnt expecting it to be perfect.
Side and base turned out pretty decent which I'm happy about.
