Hello from Colonsay, Inner Hebrides.
Hi, new today but been running Rover V8’s for thirty years. Looking for lots of guidance as I hope to rebuild my 110 CSW with a 4.6 running off carbs and as few electronics as possible.
Re: Hello from Colonsay, Inner Hebrides.
Good plan. I had one in my Landie to a similar sounding spec for a while!

Thanks Chris, you might be the man I need to talk to. Can the 4.6 block be dressed up to look like a standard 1970’s 3.5?
I want it to look original when you look under the bonnet, but as I will be towing close to the max 3.5T quite a lot, I wanted the extra bottom end grunt of the 4.6.
Do you have some photos of your set up?
Thanks again.

In a basic sense the blocks are the same.
Maybe a little different casting, 4.6 will have cross bolts for the mains. But visually no huge difference.

Thanks for that. So on a 4.6 I can block off the crankshaft sensor and run a standard distributor? I’m now looking for a 4.6 to fit in a new 110 galvanised chassis.

Re: Hello from Colonsay, Inner Hebrides.
If you're referring to the front end parts....those are not the block.
In general, just re-use all the bolt on components from your 3.5 or whatever. The crank snout on the 4.6 is longer, but spacers are available for the front pulley bolt that makes this a non issue.
Water pump, front cover, dizzy etc etc....you'll just use all your 3.5 stuff.

One example here, maybe worth a watch
Re: Hello from Colonsay, Inner Hebrides.
As mentioned, use the 4.6 block and and everything else from the 3.5 engine.
I think I had to counterbore one of the cross-bolts because it fouled on the oil pump.
And as already mentioned, you need a crankshaft spacer as it's longer at the snout.
Obviously you need a camshaft that has the distributor and oil pump drive on it, rather than a 4.6l cam which doesn't have that lot.
Just make sure you get a crack free 4.6l block - at least 50% of them crack!

Wow Chris,
Thanks so much for all that info and the You Tube videos. The 4.6 on the Dino said it all and that’s exactly what I want for my 110, spade loads of torque low down.
Thanks again, I owe you a pint.
Douglas.
