New member Jamie Barnhardt here in Virginia USA needing help identifying a rover V8. Block # is 97D03545A and am struggling to figure what it is and where this Rover beast came from. Have grand plans of stuffing it into a 1970 Triumph TR6 as a graduation gift to Virginia Tech son Chris. Obtained engine a bit ago and also need to work out how to get the power to the tyres as well. Need advise on how to attach photos of it to this post as well. All kinds of needs and a great many thanks for any help.

closest I have to a 97D is a 96D which is a 4.6 range rover efi NAS

Post a few pics of it. Areas of interest are (depending on whether it's just the block, or a complete engine):
- Side of block 1 inch above the bottom (to see whether it's cross-bolted mains)
- Timing cover around oil filter area
- Inlet manifold
- Sump
Also measure the bore diameter if you can, it should be 3.5" (3.5l) or 3.7" (3.9,4.0,4.2,4.6l)
I'm sure we'll figure out what it is.

No sure how to post pictures on this site. While reading other posts, they speak of placing them on a host and a link to connect. Thank you for your interest. see you have yourself a IIA. Completed a 1965 IIA 88" W/OD body off for a customer in 2009. Fun project. Driving it reminded me of some of the surplus military trucks from back on the farm. Very much enjoyed the 200 miles of test driving the unit prior to delivery.
