diffrent oil filter

Post by dirk »

hi recently fitted a 3.5 v8 into a land rover defender the engine was out of a range rover classic it had a long oil filter fitted to start with ,
after a few days running i noticed the front axe was hitting the middle of the filter body small dent ,
so i changed the filter for a shorter one coopers z1159 but now its hitting the filter body right on the end . does any one know of a shorter filter that i can fit . I know i could get a remote filter kit but i don't like parting with cash . thanks in advance.

Once upon a time I fitted a Sierra Cosworth filter to mine as it was the shortest that the motor factors had that shared the same fitment.

Not sure if there's more than one Cosworth one, however I think the thread etc is pretty standard.

Chris.

Ford part number EFL 90
I tried one on my Rover engined Sierra but it took longer than expected to get the oil pressure up if it had stood fo a while, in the end I got one from Real Steel that must have had some kind of a one way valve, I think it was a Chrysler one but it was a long time ago and my memory is not as good as it used to be
