Looks like truck engine - will weigh as much as the car - develop less power than a 3.5 rover and be a small fortune to get all the parts to make it run correctly .

Anyone have any information on these, what there like to install, run what power they make etc?
I don't have a budget as such I am completely restoring the car and going to be starting the resto in the next month or so. as for budget I am going to be doing it slowly over a year or 2 (more likely 2). I will be removing most panels and the current engine (2ltr pinto) and would like a v8 would like to get a crate engine but they seem pretty expensive... ideally on just the engine I wouldn't like to spend more than £1000 but if there was something really good I may spend a bit more. I would imagine that the complete restoration will set me back in the region of £8000-£10,000 but I will be doing 100% of the work myself just though it would be best to get everything in the engine bay fitted and ready before tackling the bodywork as no doubt id paint it and then scratch it or something. in an ideal world i would like a ford 302 engine as that seems the best option just really struggling to find any!
Sorry also forgot to say that whatever engine I get (unless I end up with a crate engine or the like) it will be 100% stripped down and rebuilt at the same it will be modified as necessary this probably goes without saying though.. thanks again
I really cant see you getting much sub £1k though, and then you've transmission on top.
I know it's more money, and some guys have posted much cheaper engines/boxes from Aussie breakers, but these still arent terrible value. And you know you're getting a great engine with lots of potential and parts will be readily available for a very long time.
And as a cutout from another car, you really should ahve almost all parts needed without spending weeks or months hunting down and buying individually.
Man I wish I was richer they all look so nice! does anyone know of a company that sell crate engines on finance? that would be awesome! does anyone know what a 2.0 ltr pinto sells for? got a few bits that I will sell as I remove them! like the look of the roadcraft stuff they seem pretty cheap!
Just spoken to a guy up the road from me who has offered me a ford 302 v8 with a c4 auto box and a carburettor (not sure what carb) for £500 he says the engine runs perfect but the gearbox has never been used or fitted so is unsure of the condition but he bought it as working?! seems like a good deal to me! what could I sell the box for as im not really looking for an auto?

Certainly sounds like a solid base to work from. Should be easy enough to source a T5 box from the US for something like that
But if it's a working engine, with all ancillaries, then go for it
Ok so it looks like I'm going to be getting the 302!! Really happy going to be getting some photos of it tomorrow and going to see it on Saturday can't wait! Don't know what you guys think but what I am thinking of doing is..... Fitting the 302 with a t9 gearbox, custom prop, and a mustang rear axle. Is there anything I've missed (not including ancillary a and stuff)
