OI!!
Thats Mr old man to you
Things are slowly coming together for you and Jay this season. And early in the season too !!
I have to work 19th and 20th but I'm trying to get the Sunday off or at least an early finish. I may take the trailer to work and lock it in theb yard so I can make a quick getaway from Kings Cross to the Pod ??
Jay can drive from home.

No time or money to dyno stuff yet. We just did a tune in the pits and worked it up from there. We are keeping it safely rich on the gas though.
I hope to have my MGB on the dyno late june with my mates MG midget, if Jay can get some time off he can come too

I guess Sonny Boy will be along sometime soon to update his PB??
He's been to busy this evening doing the front garden for me cos I'm too lazy to find the mower
His first run off the trailer was against DBV8 in the TVR. It was a really good heads up race.

Pel, i dont suppose you got a ticket for that run????
Told me a tail of computer problems. That was my best run of the day, I think seeing Jay launch hard and leave me on the line got the best out of me to play catch up.
Excellent race. I better improve my reactions and launches because i am sure Jay will be getting quicker at every visit to the pod.
See you on retro weekend

I am sure Pel will explain further but the 2 cars are quite different. Mine has standardish suapension, a manual box and runs on streets.
Jays escort is purpose built, launches very well on drag slicks and uses a trick auto box. I think his gearing is a little low at the moment and the terminal speed is maxxed out well before the finish.
I was left for dead at the line, maybe had a little more power but more speed in the 2nd 1/8th to catch up and pass. If Jays gearing let him go faster in top i might have struggled.
Later in the day i ran 11.6 @ 125.... ie had more power but a poorer launch. Its all lost in the first 60 feet so they say.

Jays car leaves the line like a scalded cat, but runs out of gears and rpm at the 1/8th due to the 4:1 diff.
Dels car leaves the line a bit more gentle but has shed loads of gears and power right through the rev range.
If the TVR could hit a launch the same as Jays escort does it would easily pull a 10 at over 130mph.

An auto box with a ratchet shifter is worth half to 1 second on the 1/4 mile.
No time wasted in coming off the gas and doing the clutch and wiggley stick thing and then back in again.
Full pedal off the line and keep the pedal flat to the boards while taking a fraction of a second to shift gears. And the nitrous is doing its thing all the time with no breaks in power for manual shifting.
Tricks of the trade eh ??
Keep the car as light as poss to ease the strain on the gearbox. Jasons box came out of a ford 100e with a sbc in front. I had to go to Rugby to collect it but it was only 100 notes + 2 quarts of trick shift to top it up as it had fluid in it already
