70's Kit car Dutton B+
The build is taking longer than anticipated - I bought the car in 2004 but in my defence I have had one or two other projects come along in the mean time.
Early days it looked quite presentable
Was bought very cheap as the engine was reported blown - turns out it had a bout 2 1/2 gallons of oil in it and 7 blowing exhaust gaskets due to the naff headers.
Engine is a bit of an odd one - its a very late P6 9.25CR after the 10.5's and before the SD1 9.35's - it has SD1 heads block huggers and a list 8007 390 - five speed LT77 and MK1 Capri 1 3.09 axle.Wheels are ultra lite 3 piece Compomotive 14x9.5 rear and 14 x 8 front
But I didn't like some aspects of the build so rather than drive it I took it apart.
And all was not as it should be so I kept going after welding in a few extra bits of metal because there was a definate lack if chassis.
And so it went on
And on
And now at the stage of starting to put it all back together again.
And hopefully in the next couple of months it will be back rolling under its own steam and a lot healthier into the bargain - then the tuning begins
Cheers

The suspension is good old Triumph - Spitfire in this case with but with GT6 discs and it did have Princess 4 pots but they have been sold and I will be using stock 2 pots until I fit some alloy calipers.
The top ball joint is a Lada/Fiat item that Caterham use on their uprights (Triumph) to provide camber adjustment.
I don't have an issue with Trunnions on lightweight cars and as long as they are oil filled and not greased never had any problems with them.
If you are looking to convert why not consider the good old Ford Cortina 3/4/5 items - Austin Maxi or Cortina for the lower balljoint and Transit drag link for the upper same as the Westfields use.
Rolled it out today to fit a few bits onto it so that I can measure up for clearance to the Panhard rod - its gonna be tight.
Its coming along though even if its riding a bit high at the moment.

A good 12 months further on.
The car is not quite finished but its paneled and wired and now fitted with a Stock 3.9.
Its moving on to a new owner very soon as I replaced it last year with the Ginetta G27 and I need the garage cleared so I can get some much needed work done on it.
Cheers

Looking good Andrew. I just bought one of these with a 1600 Xflow engine. I pick it up next week.

A B+ or one of the Phaetons?
I also have two really early B Type cars from 1972 - back to their component forms in a shed at the moment and giving serious consideration to having a big e-bay clear out.
They are good fun for the money - especially with a V8 even seen a Buick 455 in one.
If you need any assistance or info on yours let me know I have gathered quite a bit over the years

A phaeton I think.
Its in a sorry state, but I only paid the price of the tyres for it and I'll bring it home tomorrow evening.
I'm thinking that I can take the body off and tweak the chassis a bit. Then bung a spare V8 in it for some lightweight fun.
The wife seemed quite surprised when I told her why the trailer was rolled out this afternoon?
I'm sure I told her that I had bought this 2 weeks ago. Maybe I forgot
