Classic and Retro show at the Pod

Post by mgbv8 »

Looks like it's not on this year?
Did I hear somewhere that the Retro magazine has shut down. Is that why its not listed on the 2007 Pod events list?
Bummer! I really enjoyed the last few.

It is a pity, although I only read a few copies...

But lets face it, there really are far far too many magazines out there. How can they all expect to keep going ?? There really arent that many cars out there to warrant so many mags, specific to brands, marques etc.

The long running mags have their grassroots customer base, and offer useful info, letters to ed, etc... but yeah, so many of the new ones seem to be little more than a vehicle for advertisments and "image". I'm not sure even the publishers expect many to last more than a few years.

I suppose Pratical Performance car Mag is the other option.

Do they do a show? If so count me in, that mag should be renamed the bible!

The mag's good but their internal organisation sucks! 5 attempts to get my subscription sent to my new address and not one worked I spoke to Will Holman, Kevin Leaper, their accounts department and even went on the stand at Goodwood.

:mob :mob :mob :mob

In the end I renewed my subscription with my new address. This month's hasn't turned up yet and the guy that bought my old house isn't forwarding my mail any longer.:nutz

Sadly,

Ian

PS I also went to the Classic Motor Show at the NEC this year. Loads of club stands and all free to the clubs as they charged 20 squid a ticket to the punters. It's dry but with no racing :( :( :(

There will be a new show - Retro-rides show - to fill this gap nicely.

You can find more information here - autotests, tracking, all kinds of things going on! 8-)
