3.5 crossbolted engine value.

Post by Paul V8 »

Hello,

My triumph TR7 has seen better days and the body needs to much work for me, I'm thinking of stripping it but don't know where to start. its a tuned 3.5 cross bolted engine with ported heads, manifold and cam. Made 255bhp. I hear the engines are rare. Where do I stary with a price?

Many thanks.[/img]

Not sure mate worth what someone is willing to pay, but you are right the 3.5 x-bolted blocks are the rarest, and sought after for forced induction applications. For reference, about 5-6yrs ago I had an xbolted block that I bought/sold for £350.

Depends what else you have in the engine in terms of pistons/rods etc.

A set of stage 3 heads should be worth about £4-500 on their own complete.

As a complete engine I would say it's worth at least a grand, maybe much more. If you do sell it on ebay etc, don't forget to use the words TVR / Morgan / Kit Car in the title as it'll get more attention lol.
RIP MGB V8 .... served me well as a learning curve.

Thanks for reply.

It's got ported big valve 4.6 style heads, ported offy manifold, crower 232 cam, uprated pushrods, rhoads lifters, balanced bottom end with piston pockets, 11:1 compression ratio, Malory dizzy with msd ignition.

Maybe I'll keep it for a future project.
