There definitely is one as I considered it for my van. After finding out it's illegal to Do It Yourself!

But sadly I have no idea who it was, apart from a vague notion they were in Essex!

Sorry to be of no use.

Chris.

Thanks Chris
There must be someone who can do it for sure. Mach5 wheels was one suggestion but their website is dead, although they are on facebook ?

I'll keep trying for a while before I submit to talking to diamond racing in the USA who made my mates steelies for his F150. I can find loads of ally wheel places in the UK. But so far nobody who will make steelies for me ?

Mach5 came to my mind too as they can make any offset for a landie.
I thought it was you who banded your wheels ?

Custom as in entirely custom from scratch or just custom width/offset from an existing wheel?

Be interesting to know just why it's illegal. After all, there are plenty of mods you can also do to a car which can be positively dangerous. :D

I did get my old rims banded Eliot. But I now want to go from 14" to 15" as I want to fit Hoosier Front Runners. I'll try Weller again to see what they can come up with. I really want a smoothie rim to match the rears if I can :)

I have thought about finding some 15 x 5 steels with the right offset and see if my mate can machine up a new hub ring that I can weld on to get the right stud pattern.

Anythings possible if done right, wheels can be narrowed as well as widened and offsets changed by cutting the centres out and welding them back in :)

I think there was a time when it became fashionable to 'soup up' your steelies (probably in Essex in the '70's). A few fatalities triggered some new legislation.

I think you will find that banded steels being illegal is one of those urban myths.

I think I read that they were banned from motorsport in the 70's due to the centres failing with the extra stress from the width and racing?
