Prices

Post by unstable load »

How much could I realistically expect to pay for an MOT failure P-38/Disco/similar with a V8? I am looking at the viability of getting a vehicle for the 4.6l engine for myself and to sell the rest on as parts here in Cape Town.

Due to the regulations, I can't import anything under 40 years old, so it has to be as a parts donor vehicle and even then I may get flack from Customs...

John

They are not the sort of car that fails an mot and become cheap (unlike classics which did rust and become worthless, depite good mechanicals)

Expect to pay £500-£1000 for a "cheap" p38, but they only reach that value when their engine inevitably succumbs to blown head gasket or more likely terminal liner problems.

Even a running, non overheating P38 has at best a 50/50 chance of not having liner problems I'm afraid.
