What do I think. . . . pointless to be honest. Pretty much a desmodramic set up in that it replaces springs with a mechanical linkage but it is much heavier and will have a much higher friction loss and how long do you think the rings on those upper pistons will last. I can see elements of sleeve valving in there and the phasing of chamber volume you get in a deltic engine, but to be honest pointless.

looks very much like the engine Noel Edmonds promoted when he was presenting Top Gear (that's a long time ago). IIRC he got into quite a bit of bother with it at the time. It was promoted as a very efficient engine but the prototype engine in the car that the engine was supposed to be in was a hoax.
