So which is it, you never received them (as in they were supposed to be posted) or you never went to get them? If the latter then go get them and sell them on to get your money back. Maybe the person you bought from needs the money as well hence selling you the parts.

I paid a member on here for an inlet manifold and never got anything back... The member no longer picks up PM's, his email address is not working and he apparently disappeared off the forum...

Yes, noone can be trusted unless you know the people really well

That's sad. My experience is rather the reverse - pretty well all you find on this sort of forum are more than honest. Just the odd bad apple.

That's what I am used to from other UK forums and I never actually thought otherwise until I failed to receive the item two weeks later.

My bad, should have used eBay, but sometimes you can't resist a bargain, can you

All is not lost as I have found a friend who is located close to the address where the person appears to live and I hope to have the friend talk to the seller and somehow persuade him to stand up to what he got paid for.

Because with paypal you have a time period after purchase with which to lodge a dispute. This means the payment to the other person is withheld by paypal until the dispute is resolved. If you waited longer than that, well there's not much you can do.

You really have to be vigillant on the internet these days, we've all probably been stung once or twice. At the moment, Mike has paid me for something 3 wks ago but due to personal circumstances & holidays I have been unable to get to post it, so I've been keeping him informed etc. and hopefully he's not too mad lol. But that's the point, you have to keep on board no matter what otherwise people will shaft you, or think you're shafting them and you get a bad rep.

Generally speaking, get the person's contact details and address if possible, and try to confirm it. If you are collecting an item do not pay for it upfront, cash-on-collection is by far the best option. Be wary of new forum members selling items etc, try and check feedback or history etc etc it only takes a few minutes searching. I've managed to avoid a few pitfalls that way. And if it looks too good to be true, it probably is!

Hi Chodjinn
No worries as yet but if it goes on too much longer I'll have to have to insist that you deliver the stuff to me in person at the 'pod and spend the day with us racing :racing which usually involves setting someone on fire while starting the car :nutz
Best regards

What are you guys doing starting the car and getting burnt, not good, tell me the procedure and I will think it through, no-one should be getting burnt on a routine start up. Good job you skipped York track just wasn't there after the rain Sunday morning.

Hi Al
we have issues with ignition timing. . . I keep putting the trigger wheel on the engine incorrectly  when this happens the ignition as half a mile out and it back fires. . . . normally gets Perry (but I got Iain the other day!) as he is squirting a mixture of petrol and methanol in at the time, generally 50/50 but on a hot day pure methanol. I hope I have it sorted now having spent the weekend resetting the trigger wheel and putting a new map in the ignition.
One thing that bothers me and I can't really find much information on, how do you decide what pressure you have the main jet poppet opening at, all I can find is a rough referance to 1.5 to 3 PSI on petrol and 3 to 5 PSI on methanol. . I am set at about 4.5 psi and I am pretty sure it is closed on cranking and opens as the engine picks up to about 800 revs as it starts to fire, I had it set higher to about 6 PSI briefly (to see what happens) but I could not get it to idel properly it hunted between about 1200 revs and 2500 revs (ish) I put it back to 4.5 opening and it works and I have left it but it bothers me that i do not understand how I should set it :? .
Best regards
Mike
