Removed an early 3.5 v8 engine from a 1971 lwb safari landrover on sunday. Fabricated an engine stand at work over last few days (in break times) to drop engine on for a little play to get it running as starter jammed on last attempt whilst fitted. New points were fitted after it initially started but it failed to start again, that was 9 months ago so not much done till now. Eventually going to fit a 200tdi in there (engine sitting next to it) but when is anyones guess as its a long term project with plenty of welding & panel work. In need of rear ns quarter as its duffed in beyond straightening. Anyway, looking forward to landing engine once i've painted frame to get it cleaned up & eventually get it started.
