Manta GTE V8 EFi

Post by SS069 »

How do folks, this is my newest project, a 1984 Manta GTE V8i with an LT77 5 speed box.

The car was initially bought for the running gear for a Ford Cortina, but as you do on further inspection I have decided that the car is far too good to destroy........so it's now classed as my latest project.

Currently not running - needs fuel pump & air flow meter to get it running - can't wait... wink.gif

The car has been stood/neglected since 1995, the spec of the car is as follows:

ENGINE - RV8 Vitesse (stronger block) - 215 BHP @ flywheel - hoping for 200 @ the wheels
- rebuilt (not yet run in) engine with a +.20 re-bore making it 3625cc (or there abouts)
- new pistons
- reground crank
- mains shells
- new cam shaft & lifters (unknown specification) - how can I find out?
- new timing set
- new uprated oil pump kit
- new rocker shafts
- porting & polishing of head
- diping & cleaning of all engine components - head/block/plenum/etc..
- new engine gaskets
- McCord head gasket
- new injection seals
- new plugs
- new oil (running in)
- new heat conttrol switch
- Braided Stainless Steel hoses & engine bay pipework

GEARBOX
- LT77 5 speed manual (refurbished)
- hydraulic clutch (light as a feather)
- complete new clutch kit

BRAKES
- twin remote servos off BMW 5 series
- Standard Manta GTE master cylinder
- Volvo 4 post callipers - front
- Carlton vented disks - front
- remote brake proportioning valve
- rear brakes std (I think)

BODY/GENRAL
- standard wheels
- tyres - 185/60 x 14 Front & 205/60 x 14 Rear
- twin 2.5" stainless exhaust system - spare wheel well had been modified to accept the exhaust
- twin headlamp conversion
- Manta 400 3 piece rear spoiler
- tow bar (it should be a good tow bus wink.gif with my track XE Viva on the back)

Here are a few piccies of the car when I bought it.........

I also have an 84 Manta GTE coupe, but it's in a very sorry and rusty state. Bought it when I was 18 back in 88 and kept it since. Been off road for about 15 years now though... This inspires me to get out the welder :)

Nice to see another Manta on the site.
You have got some work to do there but it is all worth it for sure.
Was this car a former Manta v8 register car?
It looks like one that used to come to our events but for the life of me I can't remember who it belonged to.
If I can help you with any advise regarding the Manta then give me a shout ok.
Regards
Paul
