Wide Bodied Mk3 Capri with Supercharged 3.9 Rover V8

Post by thefatcapri »

Hi,

Thought I'd make my first post here rather diving in with questions!

Some of you may remember my car from the 'old' forum, but for those who don't...

It's a Mk3 Capri that has an all-steel body that's almost a 12" wider than a stock Capri - based on the cologne x-pack shape, only fatter. It's running with a 3.9 litre Rover V8 with a Wade RO34 supercharger and Weber 500 carb. This drives though an HP22 4 speed auto box to a standard 2.8 axle.

While it's not my daily driver, it's street legal and great fun to drive!

Here's a recent pic of it taken by Classic Ford magazine... on the OSF London to Brighton run just before it misbehaved and overheated :(

Cheers,

Bob

Hiya Bob,

An Ace night would be most fine...

Couple of car changes here, a guy asked about buying the Victor so I went with that. I bought an Amazon estate, then flogged it and bought a one-owner one. Just got me a Lexus Soarer with a view to using the engine; a mate is going to build a chassis/cage next year as a work-swaps thing. The Ovlov will be duly skinned and draped over that. Long term thing ...

We moved to Cambridge a few months back, so I finally got some garage space, it's bloody excellent!

Hope to see you and the car at the Ace matey,
cheers
Bill

Hi, I'm new to this site and was wondering what rear axle you are running on your car?
I'm currently building a Mk1 Jetta with a V8 lump and have bought a Capri rear axle from a 1983 2.8i. I believe these were 160bhp, so it should cope with standard V8 power.

Thanks
Billy
