1978 Chevrolet Cheyenne Pick-up

Post by mr_s »

Here's the latest addition to my 'toy list', I pick it up at the weekend all being well! It's a 1978 Chevy Cheyenne (Blazer pick-up) with a 5.7 Chevy V8 in it. I won't know too much more until I pick it up, but it has 12 months ticket! Also has a new Edelbrock carb and a set of new looking Bridgestone MT tyres (inc spare!).

Can't wait to get her in the mud 8-)

Next step (potentially) is to LPG it...

Few more pics and a bit of info - told you I was going to get it muddy!

Me and a mate of mine decided to go off-roading at a place we know not far from Leicester in a place called Sibbertoft. It's the first time I've taken the truck off-road and I have to say it performed admirably for saying it's 33 years old!

Unfortunately it's a bit wide for most of the 'Range Rover' sized tracks at the site, so a few minutes into the day, we ended up in this position and had to be dragged out (the back left wheel didn't go down into the rut, stayed up on the bank and we sort of nosedived! lol)

Not to be deterred, we carried on - plenty of ground clearance and power ;)

Last blast through the water!

And then cleaning the big chunks of mud off before the 50 mile trek back home (stopping at a garage pressure wash to clean underneath the chassis.... lol)

Anyone else do anything fun this weekend?

Thanks for the info, I'd wondered why it had Blazer on the VIN plate under the bonnet (sorry, hood!), now I know!

Yep, I made a mistake in the original post, I went off what the seller told me... Turns out it is a 400ci (6.6 litre) motor, rated at 265bhp and 400 ft lbs (@2400rpm!) :D
