Mini Supercharger

Post by alex »

Hi all.
Been offered a supercharger from a new style mini.
What type is it?
Is it to small to do any good on a 3.9?
Thanks
Alex

The Mini guys sell them cheap, as they are a tad small for a 1.6. They upgrade them quite a lot.

Thanks.
I thought it would be a bit small, I wont chase it up then.
If you used two of them wouldnt the losses in turning them over be bigger than the gains in power?
I mean the blower uses power that would otherwise be at the wheels, twin turbos are effectively spun up for free from the waste?
What do you think?
May keep a passing eye out for a jag type unit though.

As long as the blower consumes less power than it adds to the total BHP then you could use as many as you like.

Turbos aren't totally free BHP as they create back pressure as far as the pistons are concerned.

I suspect that the "use 2" reply was actually ment as a joke!
