Supercharger Manifold

Post by baz_d69 »

Am I right in thinking that with a forced induction set up (in my case supercharged), the design of the intake manifold is not as important as with a naturally aspirated set up? I figure that as there is a positive pressure rather than negative, the best intake would have a smooth delivery but there's no need to have equal length runners. I'm looking into manifolds and it occured to me that a machined stock manifold should, in theory, be just as good as any other bar a tubular design.
Is my thinking right?

If you are going for a moderate tuned street engine with a blower then the inlet manifold is not critical as you are using the supercharger to get a big gain in power that you would normally have to get in small increments through normal tuning methods. You pay for it in lower effeciency but as you are probably not looking for every last horse power......

Anything you can do to improve the engines ability to breathe and consume air, is a good thing.

But at what cost ?

Sometimes the benefits arent worth spending the money on.
