SU Needles

The needles in my HIF44's are BAK, I have just replaced the air filter with some Ramflos that I got off good ol fleabay... Now I need to rejet as its obviously leaning out on me, You can hear it actually!!

I have a needle book but was wondering does anyone have roughly the same set up and know there needles? I can then see where they are in my book compared with mine...

BBW's will most likely do nicely, if your cam profile is standard.

BBC will give you a bit more fuel than the BBW. Needle profile book should be available from SU-Burlen - part number used to be ALT 9201

Already got the books from Burlen, brills site they got, found out my carbs came from a P6.
Anyway i'll have a look at the measurements on those needles, thanks guys.
Got another set of carbs on way for spares and rebuild with 'tweaks!' so will see what needles they have in.

UPDATE:
Dont know if you guys are aware of its existance, but was speaking to Burlens today and said they have a needle comaprison program in the 'LINKS' section.
It plots your needle graph, Very handy indeed.

Got a pair of BBW needles from Burlen, according to there comparison chart they where richer accrross the whole range, so just need to give it a little tune and try them out. With the ramflow filters on it makes a very lovely noise!

It should be just fine with the BBW's mate. I spent a long time playing with needles some years back and found the BBC's to be excessively rich at the top-end with a std cam, but they worked well with a piper 270/110 or 270/2 and their equivalents.
Currently trying to decide what needles to fit to a 3.9 with a viper hurricane cam and std su carbs/filter box!

Had a proper road test today and goes really well, its also cured the popping noise that i thought was a manifold gasket, must have been to lean, which was backed up by the plugs. very clean!

going to try her off road tomorrow so should be fun

Is there an easy way to tell what needles you have and what would be best?

I have an 3.5 8.35CR running a standard cam with some SU's fitted with unknown vintage.

Remove the needles, they are marked at the fitting end with a 3-letter code. Tell me the code and I'll try and help as regards suitability.
