how to run fuel lines with su's

Post by toughy V8 »

because my edelbrock runs crap ive had to use su's instead just to get me going. now when i first piped them up i blocked off the return and fuel just kept gushing out of the over flow pipes and it made no difference adjusting my regulator. so i plumbed the return in and the overflow has stopped but now when i floor it the car just dies on me then picks up again when i back off, it runs fine when i take it easy. any ideas where i am going wrong

what pressure you running at? as i think SU's only need about 3-4psi
if the fuel is coming out of the over flows sounds like the floats or needle valve maybe stuck or the fuel pressure is too high.

where have you plumbed the over flows into?

thats the correct place for the over flows,
i think you need to check your pressure with a gauge of some sort, then if you need to raise the pressure and the fuel leaks from the overflows again the carbs will need a strip down and check the float levels and needle valve,

Hi
have the floats sprung a leak and filled with fuel? used to be a common fault on the 1 1/4s on my old mini.
