What tool is best for balancing twin SU carbs?

Like it says - Gunson balancers seem common, are they any good or is there something better?

I found I could do as well as the Gunson by ear. With a stethoscope or even just a length of tube to one ear. You do need to position it at the same point of both carbs, though.

I've always used the Gunson Carbalancer. Seemed fine to me.

Cheers for the replies, the Crypton looks like its built to last - I'll have a look for one and hopefully can find one at a reasonable price.
