head gasket thicknesses

Post by Seight-V8 »

hello all,

The rover v8 composite head gasket I bought has a thickness of 1.8mm when I measure over the metal cylinder ring parts, and 1.5mm when I measure the thickness of the composite parts.

What will this gasket actually compress to when I tighten it with my ARP head studs.....

I'm thinking the actual gasket part wont compress by much at all....not much beyond 1.5mm anyway.

Trying to work out some compression ratios for when I assembly it back together.

cheers

scott

I have it in mind that they compress to little more than a 1.0 mm, 1.2 at the most. I allowed 8cc in my calculation.

cheers,

my compression ratio comes out at 11.1 with those thickness....just hoping they don't take too much of my deck height when I get the block top hatted later this week.

Was running standard composite head gaskets, but thinking about cometic ones when I put it back together, and there's a few different thickness available.

Dropping the block off a chesmans later this week.

cheers

scott
