Getting all the prices and decisions made ready for a winter rebuild to stop all those annoying leaks and noises
If wanting to correctly lower under bonnet temperature I can recommend the following exhaust manifold wrap from Thermal Velocity. I looked at ceramic coating and chose not too as it's easier to replace [if ever req'd] in situ', much lower cost and highly effective...

This popped up on my facebook earlier.

No idea how good or bad their stuff is, but it may be another option for people ?

I looked at all of this for the Lotus. The reason that camcoat is so much cheaper is that its a paint that sprayed on and then cured. Zircotec start with a nearly pure ceramic material that's then sprayed on using some kind of plasma gun, this basically welds it to the material and is also the reason they can't coat internally. I went with Zircotec in the end as I saw too many complaints about camcoats longevity.

The discolouration is from grubby mechanics hands.

Fyi, I believe Zircotec are used by Lamborghini on their exhausts.

It appears you get what you pay for I guess still time to decide before the winter rebuild, its going in tomorrow to have some V band clamps put on the exhausts to stop the leaks I hope.

I'll stick with my usual £40 worth of wrap on my exhaust primary pipes.
It takes a while to get the hang of doing the wrap yourself but after a bit of practice its easy. I also like the Steam Punk look of exhaust wrap. I have no experience of ceramic coatings so I cant say anything bad aobut them.

My simple test would be:

1. Idle my V8 to normal water temp of 90C for a few mins and then hold it at 3000rpm for 15 seconds... Then put your finger on my exhaust wrap for 1 second. Did you get a blister??

2. Idle your engine with Ceramic coating on the primary pipes and do the same test. Did you get a blister??

I have exhaust wrap on mine now but due to space restrictions it makes even changing a spark plug difficult, as the engine is coming out due to the oil pump drive eating itself its an ideal time to look at getting the headers coated, to me it would look better as well and be more like the original headers that had rotted.

Just need to convince her indoors that the money is worth it
