Range rover crank pulley

Post by adikt »

Hello all. I was wondering if the range rover pulley is a two piece affair and can be split? I have undone the 6 bolts and taken off that funny clip but doesnt seem to wana move?! Does it just need some more 'tapping with the fine adjustment tool'?

If it dont fit, force it. If it breaks, you needed a new one anyway!

Depends on the particular engine, but more than 2 pieces is possible.

There's a basic piece which slides over the crankshaft and has the harmonic damper incorporated.

Then V-belt pulleys bolt to one or both sides of it with 6 bolts and a plate.
There's also a roll-pin to ensure correct rotational alignment.

But with the six bolts out, you should be able to remove the front pulley.

The roll pin is (as I recall) between two of the bolts. It comes through the big washer thing the same as the 6 bolts do.

The pin is in the circle of bolts that hold it together. You can see it from the fornt i believe. I think you just need to give it a good bash (the pulley that is) and it should come apart. They do rust up a bit.
V8'less but a fountain of dorky knowledge ref v8's!

Aah yes, I remember that little fella. I shall massage the pully with my new tool (also known as The Destroyer) this weekend. I will let everyone know how I get on

Thanks
