Rover v8 stroker with chevy internals?

Post by simon »

I've heard this is a do-able thing.
Has anybody done it? if so what's involved?
Thanks
Simon

The only chevy internals your gonna be able to use is rods. If you overbore you can use a chevy 305 piston too. Make sure you do you homework with regard to compression height (pin height) and pin size. A chevy uses a 0.927 pin so you cant use a chevy rod with a rover piston for example. A chevy 327 small block rod has a 2" journal size the same as early rover rods. The snag is you need to get the width of the rod big end machined down to the same size as a rover rod. Alternatively you can source a stroker crank from forum member boostedls1 who makes a crank that takes full width chevy rods. You will still need to use a piston with a chevy pin though. If you use custom pistons it allows you also to bump up rod length to maximum too which has many benefits. Im using 6.125" chevy style rods which is plenty long for a Rover.

I've just put an advert in the for sale section for rods that I don't need. I set of Carillos for a rover v8 and a set of Crowers for a chevy with 2" journal :)
