camshaft for high compression engine

Post by ampwhu »

hello all. I have a 72 P6 3500s which could benefit from a new camshaft and tappets. Annoying tapping noise when warm. Car drives fine with plenty of power.

I have purchased a new camshaft with the part no. ETC6849 which lists it for a 9.35cr engine. I guess thats a later V8?

Question i have is will it be fine on my earlier 10.35cr engine. I'm think the higher ratio is to do with the bottom end and not the valve timing.

Thanks

It will definitely work, and I'm sure it will work well enough that you couldn't detect any problems without using a rolling road to measure it scientifically.

Depends how the higher CR is achieved. You just need to check piston to valve clearance if it has any decent sort of lift in case there might be contact.
