V8 Plumbing

Post by Cjhols »

Hi all,
I am attempting to run-in a Rover 3.5 on a test stand which I have fitted a Edelbrock manifold and new Carb but as I am reasonably inexperienced would like some clarification on the 'plumbing up' of the engine so I can run her. Some of the connections are obvious but others I am not so sure about (see attached images). In any case I would really appreciate it someone could label each of the inputs/outputs and perhaps suggest which ones could be blocked or bypassed for the time being.
Regards and much thanks,
Peter

Fundamentally, any pipe connection on the water pump pulls water in, anything on the manifold is for water going out. A small holes on the front of the manifold and on the top are for temperature sensors. The one on the back is normally for the heater (if you have one). No idea about the one on the carb, I do EFI :)

A is a vacuum connection for a brake servo if you have one.
B Return water from the heater.
C Fuel into carb.
D Connects to stub on thermostat housing. (Water bypass)
Spade terminal next to thermostat housing is connected to the temperature gauge.
D rear is the water feed to the heater.
Rear of carb is for a pcv valve.
