SD1 Sump Bolts - torque

Post by Biffdiff42 »

Hi - I have set out to stop the oil leaks from my Rover sd1 v8 circa 1988 and have used a composite gasket which seems to have done the job so far on the reassembly. My tr8 handbook suggests 11Nm for all the bolts except the two at the rear where it suggests 28 Nm which concerns me as it is so much more. The rear bolts are longer and do have the support bar between them, but are not the very long type which hold the casting above it in place. Any advice much appreciated ??

thanks

Jonathan

Aren't the bolts 1/4in except the two back ones which are 5/16, hence the different torque, the later landrover engines have 23nm listed for all sump bolts
