Uprated oil pump spring yes or no !

Post by Devonrod »

I have a Turner top hat 4.6 engine, its only done less than 2000 miles, I have an SD1 front cover and oil pump, I have to replace the oil filter bottom housing / plate as I have a partially stripped thread on the oil pressure switch, I have a decent s/hand plate to put on, new gears, new relief valve plunger, and uprated ( guess MGB V8 ) spring, from Rimmers. Have read lots of dos & donts about the uprated spring, even some bad ones about the tadpole valve, any thoughts please.

The RV8 relies on oil volume more than pressure, and as you have the SD1 front cover there should be plenty of volume. Increasing the pressure with a harder spring will also increase the load on the driving gear on the camshaft, which is generally a bad thing. Just keep up regular oil changes.
