Not COP Dave but CNP (coil near plug) using Chevy LS3 coils like thisDaveEFI wrote:Are you actually going COP or just one coil per plug? I'd be interested in the former, as it would be the neatest looking solution.
They normally fit four per side onto the rocker covers with a short lead to the plug, I'll be siting mine towards the back of the engine away from everything.

Was no problem, I had little adaptors at hand to clampDaveEFI wrote: But the EDIS HT connectors are made for 8mm leads - can you get copper ones in that?
at the lead and push into the coil pack.
As I have the MSD6AL in use and it works perfect my
attempts towards the EDIS are only half way.
I had the MS1 in use, boosted it with the EDIS for triggering
and later kept the older board when swapping to MS2 daughter board.
So there was all the equipment already fitted in the engine
compartment to quickly try that out. But I stayed with the MSD....

I have used MSD6AL in several cars and they have worked flawlessly. I also thought the same about Mallory Unilite, over 10 years of perfect operation until two dead Unilite modules this summer. No clear reason why, absolutely substandard help from supplier´s tech forum.
Anyway, this is my reason for going over to programmable ignition.

My Unilite burnt out the rotor arm and cap. Coil was the standard Bosch and standard Bosch plug leads. Was using the ballast resistor too. Never did know why.
EDIS probably isn't the best solution for a highly tuned engine, but mine is a standard Vitesse unit apart from Stage1 heads and MegaSquirt. And for that it was very cost effective, as the total cost using second hand EDIS ECU and coils was about £200.

EDIS8 is a fine ign system so long as you bare in mind its hard coded to rev limit at around 6200/6400 RPM I have tested 3 modules and it varies slightlyDaveEFI wrote:My Unilite burnt out the rotor arm and cap. Others have noted it too http://www.msextra.com/forums/viewtopic ... 34&t=48433 it makes sense if you think about it the donar vehicles were hardly rev monsters for most users I will stand by it being a robust ign solutionTriumph-V8 wrote:Interesting, never heard of that!
