Plenum Chamber Swap
I am fitting a TVR V8 (Griffiths 500) into a Dax Rush and have the problem of having to cut holes into the bonnet because the EFI hose and AFM sticks out. As the engine centre line is biased to the passenger side, there is more room on the driver's side so can I simply turn around the plenum chamber 180 degrees?
I know ACT, etc, do various chambers but I want the easiest solution in this case.
Would I have to make any other changes other than unbolting and turning around?
Thanks for any suggestions,
Richard.

Hmm. Not sure either and agreed, never seen it that way around either but the idea just came to me.seight wrote:Can it all fit under the bonnet on the drivers side then?
I'm not sure I've seen a Rush with it that way round.
Mike
Actually at the moment I have an old 3.5 V8 with SUs in to get through the IVA test (hopefully in a couple of months) so once that is out the way the TVR V8 will go back in and I know for sure. I am only an inch or so out so at the very least it is a small bump I have to make in my bonnet.
Richard.
Can you not just do what they do on the westfields:
I know westfield charge about 400-500 for it mind.
I've got a prototype one in the shed that I've cut up to see how easy it is to do and it didn't seem that bad - I could do it for less than westfield, but you are still talking around £200 + manifold.

With a bit of engineering, you can lower the whole thing to give more clearance.
You can mill the manifold down a little, then take some of the trumpet base and then even a little of the plenum top.
The MGB V8 guys do this - found a pic:

Not the one I was thinking of, but you get the idea.

Eliot,
It's the width, not the height that's the problem...
The engine is about 40mm more to the passenger's side off the centre line so the AFM and pipework should fit inside my bonnet. It may stick up a bit but I have a large scoop. I measured roughly today and it still may still stick up a bit but the cut-out will be less and probably easier to make up a GRP cover for.
Thanks again.
