Is there an alternator bracket that fits on the left side of the engine and doesn't use one of the head bolts to attach to the engine please?
Using stretch bolts and the steel bracket won't work these, rather not re-route the alternator wiring either!
Thanks
Andy

Left as viewed from the drivers seat you mean?
The only bracket I can think off is the Range Rover / Disco EFi one which does go off one of the head bolts.
The SD1 one and the Rangie Carb one is drivers side, and just mounted on the front of the head.
Chris.

Thanks Chris.
Yes, from the driver's seat and it's a steel one, guess I'll have to alter the wiring.

Re: Alternator brackets Rover V8
I am wondering if there was something from a late Range Rover Classic - the one with the serpentine drive belt. I wonder where the alternator went on those - because I am sure they had stretch bolts by then...? or did the stretch bolts come in with the P38? Mmmm.

Re: Alternator brackets Rover V8
Decided to chop that part off and add another bolt through into the front of the cylinder head. The alternator bracket also doubles as a lifting eye, I'm sure that's why it uses one of the head bolts.

This is probably too late but here's my fabricated left-hand bracket, unfortunately you can't really see any detail. Not the best belt wrap on the crank pulley but it's worked just fine for the last 22 years.
