Lucas 35D8, dizzy cap, points and condenser

Post by Fed_up_Stag-owner »

Pre-SD1 engine has a dizzy with a single set of points, which I think makes it a Lucas 35D8.

The engine runs so I'm planning on keeping the ignition standard for now. I'm trying to avoid Intermotor points and condenser, but are there any alternatives?

Rover points

Why on earth would you want to keep a points system anyway, regardless of whose points you use?!
Just fit the Powerspark conversion for £32.95 and forget it.

Thanks, I want to keep the points at the moment because it's currently running, which was a bit of a surprise. I don't want to introduce another variable at this stage. Electronic ignition can follow later.

The points distributor as fitted to the P6 V8 was a valiant attempt by Lucas to squeeze the last breath out of points. With a dwell meter, the correct points setting can me done quickly with the engine running. No more messing with feeler gauges.
