Rover V8 dwell

Post by ratwing »

I've got Lumenition ignition, do I still need to set the dwell angle?
I think dwell is to do with having points that need to be closed for enough time for the coil to be ready to give the next spark, so its nothing for me to worry about because I don't have a points gap to set anymore?

I'd expect an electronically triggered system to set the dwell automatically. As it's not really like points which stay closed to build up the flux in the coil.
But you should still get a reading with a dwell meter - something like 28 degrees.

Fixed dwell - nothing to do but get the timing right.
