Trigger / Ballast Resistor for EFI

Post by paulsv8manta »

Hi guys,
I've been trying to source a replacement resistor (Lucas p/n RD953066)
but have had no luck.
Have been looking on ebay and there are a number of 6.8K ohm available but are all with various watts from 10W up to 100W!
Anybody know what wattage I should be looking at?
Cheers
Paul

IIRC by that part number it's the resistor which goes between the coil 12v negative and injection to provide the engine speed signal (tach) to the injection.

So it's not a power resistor of the type you'd use as a ballast resistor for a coil.

I'd use a 0.5 or 0.6 watt type which cost pennies. But that is the bare wire ended resistor - the Lucas one is fitted to a case and has terminals at either end.

I may have the correct Lucas part lying around - I'll look later.

You don't need it for the engine to run. It is irrelevant as far as I can tell, my only explanation is that it is needed for interference on the radio supression or something like that.
