Thermotime switch thread size

Post by demo2 »

Hi guys, does anyone know what thread the thermotime switch is and coolant sender ? I need to make up an adaptor to put the coolant temp sender in where the thermotime went originally. Cheers

This probably doesn't want to be in the "for sale" section :)

It's only Imperial where part of the original engine. The injection was designed long after that and is basically Bosch which uses Bosch sensors which are metric. It would have been very expensive (and pointless) to have had specials made with Imperial threads.

I didnt realise above engine is metric but makes sense. So i need to source m14x1.5 down to m12x 1.5 adaptor then.

Might be just as easy to replace the coolant sensor with one of the same electrical spec, but correct thread.

The threads on the main engine are Unified. They are closer to American than Whitworth or BSF, but not strictly speaking the same. They came about during WW2 so things could be made the same on both sides of the pond. Most UK car makers adopted them after WW2, but not all. Especially if the design was basically pre-war.
