Flapper flap flappy!

Post by mr_s »

I've got a 2am airflow meter on my '86 Rangie, and well, the flapper flap inside the afm is flappy! That is to say, it doesn't seem to have much, if any spring pressure behind it. I'm assuming it should have, as the replacement 4.2 Jag unit I have does have pressure and springs shut as I would expect it to.

Are these units repairable (still using the car daily, on LPG so haven't had time to dismantle and check it yet), or should I just lob it in the bin?

Cheers, Martin

They're not supposed to be repairable, but it's worth prising off the black cover and taking a look, the fault may be obvious.
