LT77 detent (possibly) oddity

Post by Lewis »

Just over the past few days of driving, I've noticed that it's become increasingly more difficult to accurately select gears, especially when the box is cold.

It's also very easy to select reverse, instead of 1st now, which it wasn't before - you had to lift up and notch it in, whereas now you can catch it by mistake.

The stick feels very slushy and doesn't really self centre.

Now, I see many adjustment points according to the SD1 manual but just thought I'd consult you, before I start messing about and maybe just worsen the issue :)

The box in question - Sherpa linkage, for short shifting action

Thanks all :)

first thing to check is the remote tight, I have had them come undone before, another thing that has come undone is the spherical jount under the shifter has come lose, or just worn out, I have one up the garage without any internals to the spherical joint at all,

Hey - thanks for that.

I've fixed it now - it was the bronze-coloured plate on the top, it'd shifted across and come slightly loose (but not noticably) so repositioning it and clamping it down seems to have done the job!

Now to change the oil...
