LT77 leaking oil

Post by Misterb_57 »

Hi.
My rebuilt LT77 is leaking significant amounts of oil, after around 600 miles from install.
I'd assumed it was the rear seal but getting underneath today, it clear it not coming from there but further forward and higher up.
Could it be the top breather?
Are there any other places to check? - the drain plug and filler plug are tight!

Chris.

chris, unlikely it's the breather unless over pressurizing...but do check the speedo' drive input. also check where the remote housing/gear change linkage are to box, though this is a rare area to lose oil. may be worth cleaning off 'box then placing a tray/large piece of cardboard under gearbox for few nights to trace leak.

My box leaked, where the gear selector goes into the 5th gear housing. Took ages to work out where it was coming from.

Thanks guys.

I'll check the gear change linkage shaft. Stands a good chance it could be coming from there.

Chris.
