rover V8 vs back axle..

Hi all.. need some help here !!, ive got an eagle jeep kit car (NOT jago..) lol, its running a 3500 V8 from a rover P6, its not too bad but hasnt got the grunt it should have...its running thru a cortina back axle..is that the problem ?, i was told if i fit the P6 axle it would be a suicide move as its only a light fibre glass body.. any help on this ?

The P6 originally had a 10.6:1 CR later lowered when 5 star fuel was discontinued. If your P6 engine is the late one, it has probably the lowest power of all the car ones. The SD1 engine gets some of it back.

Do you actually mean a P6 rear axle? It's a De Dion - and the final drive is not very strong, with a very limited choice of ratios.
