borgwarner type 65 gearbox
How do I convert a borgwarner type 65 gearbox from a jaguar to fit a rover 3.5 v8 engine?
Thanks
Thanks

Probably easier to just buy an SD1 box. And sell on the Jag one. Unless you already have the parts needed to convert it.roger doger wrote:How do I convert a borgwarner type 65 gearbox from a jaguar to fit a rover 3.5 v8 engine?

IMHO, if it's a standard 3.5 and for road use, the later GM SD1 box is miles better.

Just change the bellhousing from the Jag one to a Rover one. The Jag converter will fit straight on to the Rover flexplate so doesn't need changing.roger doger wrote:How do I convert a borgwarner type 65 gearbox from a jaguar to fit a rover 3.5 v8 engine?

Yes. Which is why I said you might have problems finding one on its own. Complete SD1 boxes are common enough and not that expensive. So I'm not quite clear why you want to convert a Jag one?roger doger wrote:hi,
Thanks for the info, is it a Rover autobox bellhousing that I need not a manual bellhousing (sorry to be so thick)?
