Rover V8 Clutch - which way?

Do you mean the friction plate? If so many have it printed on them, usually something like "flywheel side".
I've just remembered the little rhyme that applies to this.
"If in doubt, fat side out!" Meaning the fatter side of the friction plate points towards the trans and the flat side goes towards the flywheel.

My manual says following the writing on the friction plate as well. But there is none and I did instal the bigger side toward gearbox thought that made sense at the time! But now the engine is in and the clutch is not dis-engaging I am looking for reasons on you see on my other thread.
