Tony, Been away at the races all weekend so missed this recent news. You know you have support from a lot of people and what you have done with this forum is build a great community of people and a resource that I reckon everyone has been grateful too on at least one occasion. The abuse you have bee...

Tony, I have to second what Mike said, not sure of the spec for your blower as it's Rootes style blowers I am familiar with. It is purely a matter of matching things up and you will be pleasantly surprised at the results. We went through a lot of parts to get a combination that survives what we do t...

I just check the exhaust port, if there is a radiused bump in the top left corner it's an early head. Easily visible and conclusive.

Later engines, ie cross bolted engines need a different sump gasket.

A set doesn't cost too much, compared to a strip down to rplace a failed one I would just buy a new set and keep the rest for spares. Bearings are not expensive compared to the labour involved.

This is a fairly common problem at high RPM and or excessive load. We fitted an oil feed pipe from the pump cover to spray into the nip between the gears, this was a fairly common mod in the rover V8 drag race series days, there used to be an off the shelf kit for it, don't know who made it as we ma...

A lot of the time one lobe goes because the lifter struggles to rotate, carbon build up because of the outer row of bolts letting combustion gasses into the valley over time. Once the lifter stops rotating it doesn't take very long to wipe out the lobe.

Cheers Mike, make sense, this is on a mini and believe the carb is from a much later Metro, car starts and idles for 30 secs to a minute and then dies, appears to be dead rich but it surges at idle like a blower motor. He has another carb coming wednesday so told him to fit it and run it, then come ...

SU Carburetors

Hi, It's been a long time since I dealt with SU carbs, looking over one for a friend at the weekend I noticed that the piston lifts nearly 1/4" before the damper has any effect. Is this normal or should the resistance from the damper be present as soon as the piston starts to lift? To me it seems th...

Yes I realised they are seperate engines. Toyota 2T is an overhead cam engine, those look like a pushrod set up, am I missing something? Anyone got a link to the build?

Timo, then I like yout Torque curve more :-) how high do you rev it?

That dyno sheet only goes to 5800 rpm, but the torque curve is impressive even if the BHP is down. I would like to know what those hemi heads are myself, could be fun with a blower :-)

Facetious comments aside, I look forward to seeing the outcome. You might need some serious aero work to stop the old girl trying to fly before the 7's come around :D
