Surely adding resistance will make the engine run even richer and hence the hunting worse I would never consider an over lean condition (splashy) hunting so am slightly confused here generally resistance decays with increasing coolant temp with a CTS

Yes it's where TVR put a sender for the electric oil pressure gauge. The idea was odd as the gauge indicates higher as the oil filter clogs up so when you do an oil change the gauge shows a lower reading and is a red herring worry.
